The Sanden SANCO2™ Heat Pump Water Heater is a two-part system consisting of a tank and a heat pump unit usually placed outdoors, up to 50 ft away from the tank. The heat pump works like a reverse air-conditioner, drawing heat energy from the atmosphere and applying it to water in the tank.
